The Agricultural Resources section of the website is intended to be a one-stop-shop for all the various products and services we discuss on this website. Some of these materials will be free, some will not, but all of them are carefully chosen to help you optimize your own agricultural operation. Just click on the following links to go to that section.
Call us old fashioned. Yes we are pleased to have so much information available online. Yet at the end of the day, we still have multiple bookshelves full of books. Some old, some new, some treasured, some tattered and barely holding together. They have served us well and now we want to share them with you. Click here to see our extensive collection of agricultural titles. One or two of them might just answer your questions. All of them will give you a lot of good information.
So much of a farmer's time is spent getting those little seeds in the ground, and coaxing them to come up despite all the challenges they face. These products and services can help save a lot of that time. With careful planning they'll save money and energy too.
These products and services will help you manage your animals as cost effectively as possible, with as little wear and tear on you as possible. The more years I'm involved in livestock, the more important that all becomes.
Farming and ranching is hard enough already without a lot of deskwork. Yet our businesses need care and feeding just like the plants and animals we raise. These supplies and services will make that easier.
Livestock and crop production often involve either leasing or ownership of land, sometimes large amounts of it. We need to manage that land not only for the benefit of our business, but also in accordance with a growing list of economic and regulatory requirements. These resources will help you do that.
If you are interested in any of the above topics and they don't yet lead to a section on that topic, it simply means we haven't moved that section over yet from the other website. We're bringing information over as quickly as possible but it's a slow process. Please check back soon, or send us a note if you're interested in a particular topic.
We released our very first self-published book, The Chicken Coop Manual, in 2014. It is a full color guide to conventional and alternative poultry housing options, including 8 conventional stud construction plans, 12 alternative housing methods, and almost 20 different design features. This book is available on Amazon.com and as a PDF download. Please visit our sister website's The Chicken Coop Manual page for more information.
Rabbit Colonies: Lessons Learned
We started with rabbits in 2002, and we've been experimenting with colony management ever since. Fast forward to 2017 when I decided to write another book, this time about colony management. Rabbit Colonies: Lessons Learned is chock-full of practical information, and is available from both Amazon and as a PDF download. Please visit our sister website's Rabbit Colonies page for more information.
The Pastured Pig Handbook
We are currently working on our next self-published book: The Pastured Pig Handbook. This particular book addresses a profitable, popular and successful hog management approach which sadly is not yet well documented. Our handbook, will cover all the various issues involved with pastured hog management, including case studies of numerous current pastured pig operations. If you have any questions about this book, please Contact Us.
